FYI: You have to have good credit. Someone I know was turned down for this special.
This seems like a scam to me. . . I don’t trust it.
Shandi- I assure you, ING Direct is NOT a scam. I is a very legitimate company.

This is NOT a scam. I opened an ING account and received the $50.00 bonus AFTER:
I used the debit card three (3) times within the first 45 days of opening the account,
Called ING at the 45 day mark to request my $50.00 bonus, and
Waited another 30 days for the $50.00 to be posted to my account.
The $50.00 bonus is given approximately 2 1/2 months after the account is opened so don’t expect it immediately.
Hope this info is helpful!

Thanks Gina!!
Do you need to have direct deposit from your employer for this account? Does anyone know or has done it differently?
I work from home so I do not have direct deposit for my ING account or BOA account.
You do NOT have to have good credit as ING Direct does not do any hard credit inquiries, unless you ask for an increase in your overdraft line of credit. I opened my Electric Orange Checking account during their 4th of July promotion and the $152 bonuses they were offering at the time with an active bankruptcy ongoing (before post-bankruptcy) and they approved me whereas traditional banks and Ally wouldn’t (since they screen people with ChexSystems). I’m set to get my 2nd $76 bonus tomorrow. They do ask that you have an external checking account, but I bypassed this step and have direct deposit instead. Their Electric Orange account IS FDIC INSURED, therefore they are legitimate.
